Our client, a privately owned Canadian company and leader in delivering quality general contracting and construction management services to a wide variety of valued clients, is looking for an Intermediate/Senior Estimator to join their growing team! They specialize in renovation and new construction of commercial, industrial, civil, multi-family residential and custom residential properties.

Intermediate/Senior Estimator

Mississauga, Ontario

What you'll be doing: 
• Responding to internal and external client inquiries for costing of project work
• Undertaking estimates ranging from order of magnitude to Class A estimates
• Preparing detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs and visit potential work sites as required
• Undertaking preconstruction development, including project scope and critical path scheduling, and identifying the associated risks/issues
• Undertaking conceptual estimates based on space plans, preliminary drawings and scopes of work
• Requesting, evaluating, and recommending sub-trade quotations where applicable and ensuring accuracy and conformance to project plans and specifications
• Communicating effectively with Owners and Architects and in a professional manner to develop your relationships and ensure repeat business
• Working with Project Managers to plan a construction project and prepare a construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Superintendent
• Identifying scope changes, if any, between “issued for construction” drawings and “tender” package drawings
• Being a resource for Project Managers as the construction of a project progresses

What you bring: 
• 4-7+ years of related estimating experience in ICI Construction with emphasis on commercial buildings and interiors
• University or College Degree in Engineering/Technical curriculum or equivalent professional experience
• Valid G Driver’s license
• CET and Gold Seal Certification in Estimating an asset
• Experience in project management considered an asset
• Proficient computer skills in MS products
• Experience in undertaking conceptual estimates
• Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards and their impact on project activities
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings; including architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical
• Effective decision-making skills
• Crisis resolution and risk management
• Strong organizational skills with proven efficiency to handle estimates and project work concurrently
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization
• Ability to work under time constraints in a high volume environment and adapt to change
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work within a team environment
